Reports say that Alexandra Burke has signed a £3m deal to take her music to America.

The 20-year-old singer won a British deal on last year's X Factor, and looks likely to crack the US in the same way as the show's former victor, Leona Lewis.

An industry insider leaked details of an agreement with Epic Records to The Sun, saying: "Epic think that Alexandra can follow in Leona's footsteps.

"The US market loves women with big voices, and Alex certainly has that. If she comes close to Leona's success it will be a job well done."

London girl Leona was nominated for three Grammy awards earlier this month, but left the ceremony empty-handed.

Her 2008 release 'Better In Time' goes up against Alexandra's winner's song, 'Hallelujah', for the Best British Single award at next week's BRITs (Wednesday 18 February).
