Let's cut right to the chase: there are no annoying samples on a loop here, and the '80s shout-outs have been wiped too. You'll even be hard pressed to find a Hoxton beat in this track.

But enough about what 'I'm Not Alone' doesn't have. Let's look at what Calvin does have in 2009: Faithless. He's got an awful lot of Faithless, in fact. The trance-house vibe is certainly a departure - especially from the man who formerly claimed to have created disco.

Whether Harris is bringing a touch of irony to his comeback single is hard to tell. It's also anyone's guess as to whether the production-maestro's loyal following will take kindly to his new anthemic sound. It's certainly a brave move on Harris's part, however, and worth you checking out for yourself. Leave all preconceptions at the door.
