Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper are in negotiations to star as Hannibal and Templeton 'Faceman' Peck in the big screen version of The A-Team.

Casting has yet to be decided on any of the four main characters (Hannibal, BA Baracus or Howling Mad Murdoch) but a release date of 11 June, 2010 has been set, and Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces) is poised to direct.

Neeson is a hot property after the global success of Taken, while Cooper's star is on the rise following the success of his new comedy The Hangover. Variety reports that Neeson is discussing money issues before stepping into the shoes once worn by George Peppard, while the Hollywood Reporter says that Cooper has just commenced negotiations to take on the role once played by Dirk Benedict.

The A-Team is a classic '80s series that followed a group of Vietnam veterans who were framed for a crime they didn't commit, but who regularly help US citizens while evading the military.

Variety adds that while the TV show maintained a fun, almost campy outlook, Carnahan, Twentieth Century Fox and producers Ridley and Tony Scott have opted for a tone closer to the Mission: Impossible and Ocean's Eleven movies.
