What do you get when you Northern Soul-shuffle a Spaghetti Western score with a bunch of gritty Mancunians with guitars? Doves' latest single 'Kingdom Of Rust', of course.
Everyone's favourite indie misers are back with a track that could easily find a home on Doves' 2000 debut record Lost Souls, the band's cinematic beginnings which saw them just missing out on that year's Mercury Prize.
It may have been four years since we last caught sight of Jimi Goodwin and co, but the band barely seem like they've been away, delving into their bleak urban landscape with theatrical zeal.
As the raven crows and the Tarantino-style guitars smoulder, Goodwin's coffee-grinder vocals perfectly accompany the soaring backdrop that unravels claustrophobically into an epic tale of stolen hearts.
