Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are reportedly close to signing deals to star in the sequel to postmodern superhero hit Kick-Ass.
The original Matthew Vaughn-directed film saw Johnson play Dave Lizewski, an ordinary New York teenager who decides to become a superhero despite a lack of exceptional abilities.
As Dave inadvertently becomes famous, he earns himself an evil nemesis in the form of Red Mist (Mintz-Plasse), and is helped by Moretz's Hit-Girl, a foul-mouthed but startlingly able 11-year-old vigilante.
Nicolas Cage, who played Hit-Girl's father Big Daddy, is said to be in talks to return in a cameo role and Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down) is on board to direct. If negotiations go to plan, the film is expected to shoot in autumn.
