It tells the story of two aging stars past their prime teaming up for one last moment of glory - and, if casting rumours are to be believed, upcoming boxing comedy Grudge Match could see life reflecting art.
According to The Wrap, Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro are in official talks to star opposite one another in the Peter Segal-directed movie.
Both have packed a punch as boxers in previous movies, with Stallone playing Rocky Balboa in six movies, most recently in 2006, and De Niro winning an Oscar for his portrayal of Jake LaMotta in Raging Bull. Grudge Match, however, is said to be somewhat lighter fare.
The script features two rival fighters tempted out of retirement and back into the ring for one last match, 50 years after their last title battle.
Written by bit-part actor Tim Kelleher, with recent redrafting from Entourage creator Doug Ellin, the movie has not been green-lit as yet, but if Stallone and De Niro sign on, filming could kick off early next year.
