Anthony Hopkins joins Thor movie
Anthony Hopkins has joined the cast of Thor, alongside Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman.
The British thesp will play Odin, the king of Asgard and the father of Thor and Loki, according to Variety.
Hemsworth has already signed on to play the eponymous hero, while Portman is his love interest, Jane Foster. Tom Hiddelston plays his nemesis, Loki, in the film, which is being directed by Kenneth Branagh.
The plot finds Thor being banished to Earth after his reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. There, he learns to become a hero and save the planet from an impending invasion by the darkest forces of Asgard.
Hopkins will next be seen alongside Benicio Del Toro in The Wolfman, as well as Woody Allen's You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger.
