
Marvel Avengers Assemble has continued to dominate the UK box office, taking £8m to retain top spot.
The superhero epic made a record-breaking debut in the US this weekend, grossing more than $200m, and its success continued on this side of the Atlantic, as it held off the challenge of highest new entry American Pie: Reunion.
Marvel Avengers Assemble is now the highest-grossing film in the UK in the last 12 months, as well as Marvel's most successful film in the British Isles.
Meanwhile, Zac Efron's new romantic drama The Lucky One debuted in third while the 3D re-release of Beauty & the Beast claimed fourth spot in its opening weekend.
Jason Statham thriller Safe rounded off the Top 5 as Salmon Fishing in the Yemen slipped to sixth.
