Ben Whishaw in line for Robocalypse

British actor Ben Whishaw could star in Steven Spielberg's new thriller Robocalypse, it has emerged.

The Perfume star, who will soon be seen as Q in in 23rd James Bond movie Skyfall, is reportedly at the top of Dreamworks' list to play the role of a hacker in the sci-fi adventure.

Chris Hemsworth is already in talks to star in Robocalypse, while Anne Hathaway has been offered the lead female road.

An adaptation of Daniel H Wilson's novel, Robocalypse tells of the human fightback after a robot uprising.

Lurker, the character with which Whishaw has been linked, is one of the key players in the story, which has been adapted for the screen by Drew Goddard, with Spielberg planning an April 2014 release.

Whishaw, who also starred in Bright Star and Brideshead Revisited, plays several roles in the upcoming drama Cloud Atlas.
