Brett Ratner is set to direct a sequel to 80s action-comedy Midnight Run, it has emerged.
The Tower Heist helmer will shoot a follow-up to the mismatched buddy movie for Universal Pictures, with Robert De Niro set to reprise his role as a bounty hunter.
Martin Brest's 1988 original Midnight Run saw De Niro's hard man Jack Walsh escorting Charles Grodin's accountant character Jonathan Mardukas accoss the country after he embezzled from the mob.
De Niro is keen to revisit the story, according to Deadline.com, but it is not yet known whether the largely retired Grodin would appear in a Midnight Run sequel.
Ratner's next film will be mythical epic Hercules: The Thracian Wars.
