After topping the US charts in its opening week, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs has also landed top spot at the UK box office.

The animated comedy took £1.5m to displace last week's number one film, sci-fi thriller District 9.

Futuristic action film Gamer, starring Gerard Butler, entered the chart at three, with indie romcom (500) Days of Summer edging up one place to four.

The Final Destination dropped three places to fifth, while Dorian Gray dropped into sixth place.

Nick Love's adaptation of Alan Clarke's 1989 football hooligan classic The Firm and Sam Mendes' Away We Go were less impressive new entries, at nine and 10 respectively.
