Dark Knight Rises retains UK No.1 spot

The Dark Knight Rises is the fastest-grossing film of 2012 in the UK after topping the UK box office for a second weekend.

The Christopher Nolan epic took over £7m to stay at No.1, meaning it has earned £30m in just ten days, two days faster than Avengers Assemble took to reach the same gross earlier this year.

Dr Seuss animation The Lorax debuted in second place with an opening haul of £1.8m while acclaimed music documentary Searching For Sugar Man made a commendable debut to enter the chart in seventh position.
