The eagerly-awaited sequel to Kick-Ass will have some comic genius among the cast after Jim Carrey was confirmed to star.
The Mr Popper's Penguins star will play Colonel Stars in the superhero sequel, a former thug who later forms a vigilante group called Justice Forever.
Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar confirmed the casting, saying: "[Kick-Ass director] Matthew Vaughn, [Kick-Ass 2 director] Jeff Wadlow and I did a conference call with Jim a couple of weeks back, and we've been itching to talk about this ever since because the energy Jim's going to bring to Colonel Stars has me buzzing as much as Nic Cage with Big Daddy."
He continued: "We didn't quite know what Jim was going to be doing in the sequel, but the entire team loves him to bits and I've been a fan since I first saw him."
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse will all reprise their Kick-Ass roles in the sequel, due for release in July 2013.
