Chronicle director to reboot Fantastic Four

Fantastic Four

Josh Trank is set to reboot the Fantastic Four for Marvel, it has emerged.

The Chronicle director has reportedly completed talks with the studio, with a brand new cast set to play the quartet of superheroes.

Two official Fantastic Four films (and one unreleased 1994 version) have been made, with Chris Evans, Jessica Elba, Michael Chiklis and Ioan Gruffudd starring.

Despite huge box office success, neither the 2005 first film, nor its 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, received a positive critical response.

Trank, who made his feature film debut with Chronicle, will now attempt to bring Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and the Thing to the screen in more convincing fashion.

News of the Fantastic Four reboot came as David Slade dropped out of the planned Daredevil reboot and Joe Cornish signed on to adapt graphic novel Rust.
