Ray Winstone is set to star in a big screen revival of '70s cop show The Sweeney.
The movie is set to be written and directed by Nick Love (The Football Factory, The Business).
Winstone will play no-nonsense Det. Insp Jack Regan, originally portrayed by the late John Thaw.
The Sweeney TV series ran from 1975 to 1978, and starred Thaw and Dennis Waterman as members of the Met Police's Flying Squad, specialising in tackling armed robbery and violent crime in London.
Love is currently writing a fresh draft of the screenplay, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
