The first images from the RoboCop reboot have been released and the 21st century take on cyborg lawmakers looks a lot sleeker than the original.
Images published by ComingSoon.net show The Killing's Joel Kinnaman in a black, muscular suit that has a lot more in common with the Batsuit than the shiny silver outfit worn by Peter Weller in the 1987 RoboCop film.
Directed by Jose Padilha and co-starring Gary Oldman and Samuel L Jackson, the RoboCop remake tells of the transformation of police officer Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) from husband and father into robotic crime-fighter, after he is injured in the line of duty.
Speaking to MTV Kinnaman said the reboot would "be a lot more human".
"Of course, [director of the 1987 RoboCop, Paul Verhoeven] has that very special tone, and the reboot is not going to have that tone. It's a re-imagination of it.
"There's a lot of stuff from the original. There are some details and throwbacks, but this version is a much better acting piece, for Alex Murphy and especially when he is RoboCop."
