Transformers 4 'not a reboot', says Bay

Transformers

Director Michael Bay says the fourth Transformers film will have a new cast but will not be a 'reboot'.

The first poster for the film, due for a 2014 release, was released this week, depicting a robot emblazoned with the words 'Evil will burn'.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Bay said it would be incorrect to call the movie a reboot, despite the plot heading "in a new direction".

"I don't want to say 'reboot' because then people will think we're doing a Spider-Man and starting from the beginning," he explained. "We're not.

"We're taking the story that you've seen - the story we've told in three movies already - and we're taking it in a new direction. But we're leaving those three as the history. It all still counts... We're moving on to something different."

He added: "I want to go a little off [the planet] but I don't want to go too sci-fi. I still want to keep it grounded."
