Madagascar 3 beats Prometheus at US box office
Animated sequel Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted has claimed the No.1 spot at the US box office.
The Dreamworks adventure grossed $60.3m this weekend to outperform Ridley Scott's much-anticipated Prometheus.
The sci-fi thriller earned a credible $50m in its opening weekend while last week's chart-topper Snow White and the Huntsman slipped to tord.
Moonrise Kingdom was the only other new entry in the US Top 10, climbing from thirteenth position.
