To my mind it's one of the great mysteries of English football that Wes Brown, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling all won more caps at right-back under Fabio Capello than Micah Richards, left. The Manchester City defender's last England appearance - and his only one under Capello - was when he came on as a half-time sub in a 2-1 friendly defeat to France at Wembley on 17 November 2010. It should come as no surprise that Stuart Pearce has included the impressive Richards in his first squad as caretaker manager. After all, it was Pearce who handed Richards his City debut against Arsenal in 2005 at the age of 16. Now Richards looks set to win his 13th cap, and not before time in my view.
