The Californian 'I Kissed A Girl' singer said that when she first met the flamboyant singer, before he found fame, she immediately showed him off to all her friends.

She told the Daily Star: "I fell in love with him and brought him out everywhere with me in LA, telling everyone they had to meet him."

Katy's adoration of the 'Grace Kelly' star originates from her youthful idolisation of another camp performer.
 
She added: "Mika's a lot like Freddie Mercury and Freddie is my idol. He's so fun and has amazing energy. I love 'Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)' - it's like Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls'."
