Lil Wayne and Coldplay lead Grammy race

Nominees for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards were announced last night, with rapper Lil Wayne competing in the largest number of categories.

The US star bagged eight nominations, narrowly beating Coldplay's seven, with both acts up for the illustrious Album Of The Year gong.

Jay-Z, Kanye West and Ne-Yo also featured heavily, with six nominations each.

Several British stars made it on to the list, including Adele, Leona Lewis and MIA, who will all battle Chris Martin's band for the Record Of The Year title.

Radiohead and, former Led Zeppelin singer, Robert Plant will also take on Coldplay in the Album Of The Year race.

Winners will be announced on 8 February.
