£1m Worth Of Watches Stolen In 'Brazen' Raid
Masked raiders wearing fluorescent clothing have made off with a £1m haul of luxury watches in what police described as a "brazen" raid in a city centre store.
The robbers struck at Selfridges in Manchester while it was open and full of shoppers.
They walked into the premises in Exchange Square wearing high visibility jackets and trousers shortly after 7.20pm on Wednesday.
Police said the trio then smashed display cabinets with an axe and crowbars and stole 100 watches.
They escaped in a black Mercedes Benz driven by a fourth offender.
The car was found abandoned in Robert Street, Strangeways, a short time later.
Watches including Audemars Piguet, Jaeger Lecoultre, Hublot and Cartier were stolen.
Detective Constable Adam Cronshaw, said: "This was a brazen robbery while the store was open and busy with members of the public.
"It was clearly well planned and executed. These men were in and out in less than 80 seconds and were very particular about the watches they selected.
"I am appealing for anyone who knows who is responsible or has overhead someone talking about this robbery - either before or after it happened - to contact us in absolute confidence.
"The clothing worn appears to be brand new and I am also eager to hear from anyone who knows where they may have been purchased or manufactured.
"The offenders will, at some point, undoubtedly look to off load these watches and I would urge people to be mindful of this robbery and again if anyone is approached with a view to buying any of these items to please contact us."
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 3240, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

what do you think?
It was me
Sort of a strange Resevoir Dogs...
these people will have plenty of time on their hands to enjoy their ill gotten gains. and if they get caught they will again be given plenty of time to think about what they did
Michael, even if they are caught they'll probably just get a ticking off... And probably not even that if the authorities can't get them to tock!
Do you honestly think that if someone is offered a high end watch for a fraction of the cost, theyre going to say no. I dont think so in these times, where everyone is struggling to make ends meet.
About TIME we got a deal lol
any shop that has £1 million worth of watches deserves to get robbed! In todays climate that is obscene!
