Actor Steve Martin Becomes A Father At 67

Actor and comedian Steve Martin has become a father for the first time at age 67.

The famously private star and his 41-year-old wife, Anne Stringfield, welcomed the baby in December, a representative for the couple has confirmed.

No additional details were given.

The New York Post first reported the story on Wednesday.

The couple are said to have kept the pregnancy a secret, but have recently been spotted near their home in Los Angeles with the newborn child, the paper said.

"They worked hard to have the baby", an anonymous source is quoted as saying.

Martin is a former Saturday Night Live cast member and star of films including Father of the Bride and It's Complicated.

He is also a novelist, musician and comedy writer.

He and Ms Stringfield wed in a surprise ceremony in 2007. Guests, including Diane Keaton and Tom Hanks, had only been told they were coming to a party.
