Lohan Drives Sports Car Into Rubbish Truck

Actress Lindsay Lohan has escaped unhurt after crashing her Porsche sports car into a rubbish truck in Los Angeles.

The 26-year-old drove into the back of the larger vehicle on the way to the set of her latest film.

Police said they did not believe she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time.

The Freaky Friday star and her male passenger were taken to hospital as a precaution but both were soon released.

"Lindsay was involved in an automobile accident today on her way to the set," her publicist Steve Honig said in a statement.

"She is fine and was released less than two hours later and is already headed back to the set to resume work."

He added: "Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident."

Lohan is attempting to make a comeback following a string of court appearances since 2007.

In March, she was released from almost five years of formal probation for drink driving and cocaine offences.

Lohan is currently working on a TV movie called Liz and Dick in which she plays the late screen legend Elizabeth Taylor.The film is based on Taylor's love affair with Welsh actor Richard Burton, whom she married twice.
