Adam Pickup: Missing Teenager Killed By Fall
A teenager whose body was found after he went missing during a night out died as a result of a fall, a post-mortem has revealed.
Police say the tests on Adam Pickup indicate there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The 17-year-old from Stockport was separated from friends while out in Manchester city centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A major appeal was launched to find the student, and his body was discovered near Deansgate railway station on Monday afternoon - a few hundred yards from where he was last seen.
Greater Manchester Police said his injuries were consistent with a fall and that the matter would now be referred to the Coroner.
His mother had revealed on Facebook that Adam's body had been found.
Chantal Pickup, 42, posted a message on behalf of her family in which she said: "We are devastated but so grateful to everybody who has helped search for Adam and given us their love and support. Chris, Chantal and Ben x."
A minute's silence was held in Manchester city centre on New Year's Eve and a Facebook page set up in Adam's memory has been inundated with messages of support.
Patricia Wilkinson wrote: "My heart breaks for this beautiful young man's family. May you gain strength to get through this very sad time. From a mum xxx."
And Twitter users have also been paying tribute, including Jamie Brooks, who wrote: "Who would think one lad could take an entire city's heart... amazing respect from the people of Manchester. #RIPAdamPickup."
