Angelina Jolie handed Bosnian citizenship
Angelina Jolie has been made an honorary citizen of Bosnia after drawing attention to the region with her feature film directorial debut In The Land Of Blood And Honey.
The Hollywood star also co-wrote the movie, which focused on a romance between a Serbian soldier and a Bosnian woman during the 1990s war in the troubled area.
And now government officials have chosen to recognise Jolie for her "contribution to the preservation of truth about the war in Sarajevo and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and her dedication to protection of the principles of humanity, democracy, tolerance, and solidarity between people of different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds".
The actress has been invited to attend a special ceremony in the city of Sarajevo on 3 May, although it is not yet known if Jolie has accepted the offer, according to UsMagazine.com.
