April Jones: Suspect's Son Shocked At Arrest
The son of the man police are holding on suspicion of abducting April Jones has told of his shock at hearing his father had been arrested.
Scott Williams, 19, told Sky News his father had little to do with him or his mother Julie, but added that Mark Bridger had "never done anything to anyone".
"(I heard he had been arrested) as soon as it came on the news," he said. "From what I know of him, he's never been anything like that.
"I've only just met him for a couple of months ? he's never been in my life. From what I've known of him he's never done anything to anyone. The times I have met him, he's been fine.
"I've met him only a couple of times, say, when I've been having a drink down the local pub and he's been there when I have been."
Bridger is understood to have married Julie Williams in Machynlleth in June 1990.
When asked how his mother was coping with his father's arrest, Mr Williams said: "Fine; he's nothing really to do with us anymore really. I don't know what to say really.
"It was a shock when they announced his name on the telly. (We) basically heard it on the news he had been arrested and it was a bit of a shock when his name popped up."
Mr Williams added that he had joined the local community to search for April "since she's gone missing".
Police investigating the abduction have appealed for anyone who saw Bridger between Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon to get in touch.
Photographs of the 46-year-old and his metallic blue Land Rover Discovery have also been released.
Det Supt Bevan also used the previous appeal for witnesses who may have seen Bridger over the last two days - or his 4x4 vehicle, registration number L503 MEP.
"We are in the process of piecing together his movements and that of the vehicle from around 5pm on Monday evening through to 3.30pm Tuesday afternoon when Mark Bridger was arrested," he said.

Poor Kid, What a way to be treated by a 'father'. Thing is Im sure this kid will get all the flack for father who basically caouldnt be bothered. Disfunctional Britain strikes again.

What a bunch of vultures. That "interview" was amateurish at best and frankly the interviewer should be ashamed at the way in which it was conducted. Just leave the poor lad alone. As if he hasn't got enough to deal with now.

Poor kid - fancy seeing your dad just because he happens to be at the same pub. And this guy was MARRIED to his mum! Shoddy at best.

So common now, how a man could have a child and not want to be part of his life. It is also looking less and less likely that poor April will be found alive. So very sad.
