Areas of biggest travel disruption

These are some of the areas where the bad weather has had the biggest impact:
:: NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE TO BERWICK-UPON-TWEED - Due to flooding and a landslip near Berwick, there are no trains running between Newcastle and Berwick. East Coast train company is not laying on any replacement bus service between the stations and the line is not expected to open until Saturday morning.
This problem is affecting not only the East Coast company but also services run by the CrossCountry and First TransPennine Express companies.
First TransPennine Express warned that journeys to and from Newcastle may be delayed by up to 60 minutes.
:: SCOTTISH RAIL SERVICES - The flooding and landslip at Berwick has meant there are no East Coast services to and from Glasgow Central or Inverness. Some CrossCountry services are affected.
ScotRail services in the West Highlands are being badly delayed by a freight train derailment between Tulloch and Corrour, and a landslip has occurred between Ardlui and Arrochar. There are delays of up to 90 minutes, with service alterations and bus replacement in some areas.
:: CUMBRIA - Trains run by the Northern Rail rail company are being affected due to flooding between Haltwhistle and Brampton, with delays to services between Newcastle and Carlisle.
