Arsenal Beat Hull City To Win The FA Cup
Arsenal have won the FA Cup by beating Hull City 3-2 after extra-time at Wembley, ending their nine-year wait for silverware.
Aaron Ramsey's neat finish from an Olivier Giroud backheel broke the hearts of Hull's fans and sparked wild celebrations in the red half of the stadium.
It is the club's first trophy since 2005, when they won the same competition against Manchester United following a penalty shootout.
But after 10 minutes it looked like that drought was going to continue.
The Gunners found themselves 2-0 down as the underdogs made a blistering start to the match.
James Chester and Curtis Davies scored from two set pieces to leave Hull dreaming of a first FA Cup.
But Arsene Wenger's men began to dominate possession and Santi Cazorla restored hope with a well struck free kick that gave Allan McGregor no chance in the Hull goal.
Laurent Koscielny equalised to send the game to extra-time and the pressure eventually told when Ramsey scored the winner.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has now won the FA Cup five times, making him the joint most successful manger in the history of the competition alongside ex-Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Wenger said of his latest silverware: "It was more important today than all the others.
"Twice we did the double (1998 and 2002), we had already won (a trophy) so we were not under the pressure we were today.
"I've won it now five times, it's not too bad. I'm in good company (with Ferguson)."
Ramsey said scoring the winning goal was "mind-blowing".
He added: "I have dreamt about this day for many years as a young kid coming through and it hasn't quite sunk in yet.
"I'm more delighted for the team that we have actually won a trophy this year. I think we have deserved it.
"The manager deserves it as well - he has stuck by his players over the past few years after we were questioned a few times."
