Asda Sex Attack: Boy, 4, Assaulted In Toilet
Police have appealed for help after a four-year-old boy was sexually abused in a supermarket toilet in West Dunbartonshire.
The incident happened on Tuesday at 1.55pm in the men's toilet at Asda superstore in Britannia Way, Clydebank.
The boy had been allowed to go into the toilet on his own by his mother who was waiting for him outside.
Strathclyde Police say the incident happened within minutes of the boy entering the toilet and he raised the alarm when he came out.
Detectives are closely inspecting CCTV footage from the Asda store and have appealed for the public to help them in their investigation to find the alleged attacker.
Detective Inspector Graham Cordner, who is helping lead the investigation, told Sky News the boy is trying to help the police as much as he can to identify the man but because of his age specialised officers are needed to interview him.
The boy has described his attacker as being a white male, dressed in dark clothing with logos on his long-sleeved top. He had dark, possibly brown hair.
Det Insp Cordner said he could not confirm the age of the man.
He told Sky News: "This is a very worrying incident but I do want to stress to the general public that it was a completely isolated incident.
"We do need the help of the public who were in the store, or in the Clydebank shopping area, at the time of this attack to come forward.
"If anyone saw anything, even if they don't think it's important, it may well be. So please just contact the police. We just need as much information as possible so we can get a full picture as to what happened."
It is hoped that CCTV footage throughout the store and the surrounding car parks and shops in the area will reveal clues as to the identity of the alleged sex attacker.
An Asda spokeswoman said: "We have taken this report very seriously. We alerted the police and are supporting them fully in their investigation."
Police have asked anyone who was in the supermarket at the time or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the store or surrounding area to make contact with Dumbarton Police Office on 01389 822000.

They need to catch this scumbag as soon as possible
Poor boy.Hope they catch the culprit soon. Not putting no blame on the Mother, but at that age,she should've taken him into the ladies. That's what I did with my Son.He's 18 now and back then it was'nt very safe.Today,it's worse.
Diane shrewsbury I agree my son is 29 now at that age u take them in the ladies. This evil person has to be caught
people are sick - what is this country coming to???? Paedophiles need to be castrated not put on sex offenders list
providing the cctv was working , itll do the job before too long
also people are concerned about cctv in the public areas of public conveniences
I used to take my lad into the Ladies toilet until he was 7/8 because of the worry of sick bar stewards like this rat . you cant trust anyone these days .. No detterent . I know what I,d like to happen to them but as long as we have do gooders defending them we need to be extra careful .. My heart goes out to that little innocent lad .hope it doesnt effect him too much
Disgusting!!! Poor little boy, hope he gets the help he needs to try to forget this revolting ordeal. I am a mother of two young boys 4 and 8 and I must admit I even go into the ladies with mine just incase. We must not blame this mum at least she was waiting outside for him, she did'nt know there was a sicko in the toilets, I bet she is in a terrible state now, she will never forgive herself!
What the hell was a 4 year old doing on his own in the toilet - I know the poor mum wouldn't of known this was going to happen but I wouldn't let a 4 year old out of my sight . Need to catch this sick man and castrate him, that would put an end to his sick ideas !!!!
This the 3rd story of this kind in the past month or so, i fear though it may be happening more often. It's terrible that these animals are out, they're most probably have already been inside and let out - they shouldn't get out they are dangerous to our children and a blight on human kind.
I always insisted on my boys coming into the ladies toilets until they were old enough to rebel! I encountered much opposition from toilet attendants and other female "customers" who felt that little boys should be sent off to the male toilets on their own! I had a furious row with one toliet attendant because she objected to my five six year old coming in with me to the ladies - some of the other women using the toilets at the same time agreed with me, some with the attendant. But he came in anyway and she threatened us with the police!
Well thank goodness you stood up for yourself! Children are to easy a target for the filth that lurk waiting for an oppitunity to strike.
Children should accompany their mothers or fathers to the toilet until they are at least ten.
