Ashton Kutcher Prank: Boy Of 12 Charged

A 12-year-old boy has been charged with making a prank emergency call that sent police to the home of actor Ashton Kutcher.

In a so-called 'swatting' incident, prosecutors allege the child said there were armed men with explosives inside the 35-year-old's Los Angeles house.

The boy, who cannot be named because of his age, is also accused of making another fake emergency call - to a Wells Fargo bank in the city.

The district attorney's office confirmed the 12-year-old is facing counts of making fake bomb threats and computer intrusion.

It is thought the call to Kutcher's house was made using a device which allows deaf people to type text over the phone.

The Two And A Half Men actor was not at home when officers arrived.

'Swatters' make false emergency calls with the aim of summoning large numbers of police to the home of a celebrity.

The term comes from the specialised Swat (Special Weapons and Tactics) teams which often respond to serious events involving firearms or risk to life.

Other recent victims include singer Chris Brown, Simon Cowell, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Tom Cruise.
