Babyshambles star undergoes emergency surgery
Rocker Drew Mcconnell has been admitted to a hospital in London to undergo emergency surgery on his spine.
The Babyshambles bassist was due to stage a solo show at the city's Seabright Arms venue on Thursday night, but had to pull out of the event at the last minute after he was hospitalised.
Fans were notified of the cancellation via a post from his representative on Facebook.com, which read: "Hi guys, really late notice but we have so terrible news... Drew McConnell has just been rushed into hospital, He is having to have emergency spinal surgery... Im (sic) really sorry to let you down. We were all really excited about tonight but now we will just have to make the next one which is on June 23rd BIGGER and BETTER!"
No further details about McConnell's operation have been released, although the star had to learn to walk again last year after breaking his back in a horrific road crash.
The 33 year old snapped his spine in three places and suffered broken ribs and injuries to a shoulder and knee when a car ran a red light and knocked him off his bicycle last July.
