Bailey's Queen Portrait In 'Instagram Style'
He has taken pictures of some of the world's top celebrities and now David Bailey has turned his camera on the Queen, adding Instagram-style finishing touches to the image.
Bailey's official portrait was released the day before the monarch, who wears a friendly smile in the black and white photo, celebrates her 88th birthday.
The 76-year-old, who has worked with a host of actors, models and musicians on a series of iconic images during his career, gave the portrait a modern twist.
The shot appears like many images that have been run through smartphone app Instagram - a distinctive black border framing the square head and shoulders shot.
Bailey said: "I've always been a huge fan of the Queen. She has very kind eyes with a mischievous glint.
"I've always liked strong women and she is a very strong woman."
Bailey's previous subjects in a career spanning more than half a century include the Beatles, Princess Diana and Kate Moss.
Although he has not worked with the Queen before, he is no stranger to Buckingham Palace.
He met the monarch at a reception for the British clothing industry in 2010 and received a CBE in the Birthday Honours list a year later for services to art.
The Queen celebrates her actual birthday on April 21, with official celebrations taking place on June 14.
Earlier, she joined other members of the royal family for a traditional Easter Sunday service in Windsor.
