Barbra Streisand to perform for Israeli president's 90th birthday

Veteran entertainer Barbra Streisand is set to perform a special concert in honour of Israeli President Shimon Peres' 90th birthday in June.

The politician won't officially turn a year older until August, however The Way We Were hitmaker will kick off the celebration a few weeks early by hosting a private show during Peres' yearly speaker's conference, which begins on 18 June, according to the Associated Press.

The concert will mark the Jewish singer's first ever gig in the country - she was due to commemorate the nation's 60th Independence Day in 2008, but she pulled out of the show for personal reasons.
