Beyonce to perform at President Obama's inauguration

Beyonce will take centre stage at U.S. President Barack Obama's inauguration later this month to sing America's national anthem.

The star gave a rousing rendition of Etta James' At Last at the Inaugural Ball after the American leader was first voted into office in 2009, and she has been chosen to sing for Obama and First Lady Michelle again to mark the beginning of his second stint in the White House.

The Crazy In Love hitmaker will perform The Star-Spangled Banner at the ceremony, which will take place in Washington, D.C. on 21 January.

Kelly Clarkson will also sing at the event, performing traditional U.S. song My Country 'Tis of Thee, which Aretha Franklin tackled for the President four years ago, and singer/songwriter James Taylor will play America the Beautiful.
