Bieber Faces Valentine's Day Court Date
Justin Bieber has a Valentine's Day date with a Florida judge on charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving with an expired licence.
A Miami-Dade County judge on Tuesday set a February 14 arraignment date for the 19-year-old pop star.
Bieber and R&B singer Khalil were arrested last week in Miami Beach after what police described as an illegal street race between a Lamborghini and a Ferrari.
Police say the Canadian singer admitted to smoking marijuana, drinking and taking a prescription medication.
Bieber†posted bail of $2,500 (£1,500) after his arrest and spent two days at a private Miami hotel before jetting out of town.
He has since been photographed enjoying the beaches in Panama with his entourage.
It was not immediately clear if Bieber will be required to attend the Valentine's Day hearing, where prosecutors will formally file charges.
The singer's attorney can then enter a plea in writing.
There had been a suggestion that some of the charges against the teenage star may have been dropped.
However officials later clarified that this was not the case, because charges would not be filed until the arraignment is held in a criminal court.
Meanwhile, over 75,000 people have signed a White House petition seeking the deportation of the singer from the US back to Canada.
The petition needs 100,000 signatures by February 22 to elicit a White House response.
Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, violation of any US or foreign drug law - apart from the possession of a small personal amount of marijuana - is grounds for deportation.
