Blake Fielder-Civil on the road to recovery

Amy Winehouse's ex-husband is expected to recover from a drug and booze binge that put him in hospital on life support, according to his former father-in-law.

The tragic singer's dad Mitch has taken to Twitter.com to assure his late daughter's fans and followers that Blake Fielder-Civil is "going to get through" his health crisis.

Multiple reports suggest the recovering drug addict was hospitalised after his girlfriend Sarah Aspin found him choking on his own vomit after a night out with a friend at the beginning of the month.

He has been fighting for his life ever since, but Mitch Winehouse insists Fielder-Civil will pull through.

He writes, "It looks like Blake is going to get through this. That's good news."

But Winehouse, who was never a fan of his daughter's ex, later added, "I am not supporting Blake, but I am praying for his recovery."

Earlier this week, Winehouse urged fans of his daughter to pray for her ex - even though he confessed to introducing the Rehab singer to crack cocaine and heroin.

The cabaret singer wrote, "Remember Amy loved him."

Mitch Winehouse seems like a really decent man who understands the complexity and tragedy of addiction.

Very humble of Amy's dad to be so understanding, but as he said she loved him, sad to say think he will end up same as Amy, she didn't have strength to fight her demons and don't think he has either, very tragic for young lives to be wasted like this, sorry for their families who must go through hell.

Couldn't agree more Mary. Wish everyone was as wise, instead of saying that he doesn't to breathe.
