Bobby Brown Freed From Jail After Nine Hours
Singer Bobby Brown has been released from prison in Los Angeles - after serving just nine hours of a 55-day sentence for his recent drink-driving conviction.
The R&B artist turned himself in to the Los Angeles County Jail on Wednesday at 9.58am.
But celebrity website TMZ reports he was apparently released at 6.58pm.
The former husband of the late singer Whitney Houston last month pleaded no contest to driving under the influence and driving on a suspended licence.
He was expected to serve around nine days but seems to have benefited from the endemic overcrowding in California's jails.
He is due to begin serving four years of informal probation and complete an 18-month alcohol treatment programme following his release.
The conviction is 44-year-old Brown's second for drink-driving in less than a year. He avoided jail after pleading no contest to a March 2012 case.
Brown and Houston were married for 15 years and divorced in 2007. Their 20-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, most recently starred in the reality TV show The Houstons: On Our Own.
In 2012 Bobby Brown married Alicia Ethredge, with whom he has a three-year-old son, Cassius.
