Bobby Brown still likes to drink after DUI bust
R&B star Bobby Brown is refusing to let his recent arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) turn him off booze, insisting he will "have a cocktail" once his latest legal issue is resolved.
The New Edition singer, a father of five, was taken into custody in California in March after he was caught talking on his cell phone while behind the wheel.
He was booked for the phone violation, the DUI and the additional misdemeanour of driving on a suspended licence, but he reached a plea deal with prosecutors last week which saw him plead no contest to the DUI charge.
Brown was ordered to complete a 90-day alcohol awareness course and was placed on 36 months of probation as a result of the agreement, while he was also banned from boozing for 30 days.
But that doesn't mean Whitney Houston's ex-husband, who kicked his drug addictions seven years ago, will be abstaining from alcohol forever.
In an interview with U.S. breakfast show Today, which aired on Thursday, he said, "I am very much clean and sober from narcotics, (but) I do drink.
"I'm not allowed to drink for the next 30 days, but I do have a cocktail occasionally. I will, again, I know that. But I'm seven years clean from narcotics so I'm living the life that I wanna live."
