Body Of Baby Boy Found At Recycling Plant
The body of a baby boy has been found at a recycling plant, police have said.
Staff at the Bell Waste Control site in Scunthorpe called police at about 9.30 on Wednesday morning after the body was discovered among items being sorted by hand for recycling.
Humberside Police said: "At this time, very little is known in terms of the circumstances which led to the baby seemingly being discarded.
"We are concerned that the baby's parents, in particular his mother, may need help and support following the loss of her child and as such she may be very vulnerable at this time.
"We are urging anyone who can help identify the parents of this baby or the parents themselves to come forward in order for us to make sure they get any support or medical treatment that may be required."
Det Sgt Karen Philpott said police could not confirm the age of the child, but said they thought it had been a full-term baby rather than a foetus.
"At this stage we can say that we believe that it is a child," she said.
"At the moment, any further details that I would give you (about how the baby died), I would be speculating.
"Our main priority at this time is to try and identify the mother of this child as we believe that she may need some medical assistance, some support."
She urged any friends or family members of the child's mother to contact police.
what do you think?

Davefly Theuniuonflagbrown
I can understand why some woman would not want a baby and can understand their need to dispose of one but there are so many people out there who would love to take it of her hands. Why not just give it up for adoption?

Andrea Hill
Poor woman.more to be pitied than blamed. she must be.in an awful state. was he new.born?

Julie Doughty
The baby may of been stillborn?? It may of had a very young mother who was scared out of her wits and didnt want her parents to know she was pregnant??? Dont assume its just because a mum didnt want her baby!! Wait until facts are known before passing judgement.

Julie Crumpton
Well, davefly, im guessing the circumstances, whatever they have been, could not have have allowed rational thought........poor love

Fergie_Al_Truth
Too many people fail to see the consequences of their actions... If you do not desire to have a child keep your legs closed! It is that simple

Andrea Hill
Hate self righteous people like you.

Jude Wakefield
Self righteous Andrea? I don't think so! Fergie's absolutely right, in this day & age if you don't want a child you don't have to and to get rid of it in this despicable way does not warrant pity!

Andrea Hill
Love to be perfect like.u.lot

Julie Doughty
Further to my reply to the first post on here..Have you not thought the mum may of been a 'victim'??? An abused young teen who as a result of rape became pregnant and didnt know what was happening to her body of nine months??? Believe me, it does happen. Fergie and Jude?? Self righteous, most definately. Dont condemn people til you know the facts behind this dear babys circumstances!!!

Julie Doughty
Totally agree with you Andrea!!

Andrea Hill
Its a heartbreaking story.she must of been desperate. glad u agree julie

Julie Crumpton
Bet your catholic! Too be so judgemental! So you think its cut and dried do you? No one knows any details, and yet you already condemn! Shame on you, what a horrible person!

Jude Wakefield
It transpires the poor baby was around six months old, six months old and found in a recycling plant! No I'm not perfect Andrea, not by a long way nor am I self righteous. No child deserves to be disposed of in that way in any circumstances. Very tragic

Andrea Hill
It doesnt say 6mths old. its tragic whatever the curcumstances for baby and mother. befote u judge wsit to hear why.

Joan Burgess
Well said Julie and Andrea, totally agree with you both. So many self righteous people who think they have never made mistakes.

Jude Wakefield
Watch the news Andrea, they said the baby is around six months old & Julia, were you stating that you thought I was Catholic? I'm not, a very strange comment....

Julie Crumpton
No jude, its not strange at all, the catholic faith is a harsh unforgiving one, you displayed all the traits....ok?

Red John
The article doesn't say that it was killed. May have been stillborn. Also "If you do not desire to have a child keep your legs closed" - wouldn't be the first time a child's been conceived in rape and the mother/victim's been too ashamed to tell anyone or do anything about it.

Julie Doughty
Here here Red!! People are far too eager to jump to conclusions on here.

Andrea Hill
Quite right.no one knows circumstances do they and they come out wth know it all comments. no one abandons a baby without being in a state.

movvi
Good egg.

Ian Stephenson
This is a tragic story, whatever the facts may turn out to be.

aj rankin
What ever happened to this precious little one my heart goes out to the mother too, whether she was mentally ill, became pregnant throught rape or just could nt cope with the reality.... shame on society for leading to this. I pray for the mother to be forgiven and become well and that dear little baby now safe in the arms of Jesus!

Andrea Hill
Your lovely

Victoria Hallett
How very sad but such a shame she felt the need to dump the baby whether it was stillborn or not

Jo Brierley
I would just like to echo many of you on here - I would love to be perfect like some of you are but we dont know the facts and regardless no woman or young girl for that matter abandons a baby without pain. It does not say anywhere in the article that the baby was killed, it could have died during childbirth, been stillborn and the mother may not have realised she was pregnant. None of us know yet......Who made any of you judge and jury anyway!!! We all make mistakes in life I hope IF you ever do someone is kinder to you !!

Victoria Hallett
i agree with you but this baby was up to 6 months old so definaltely not stillborn

Andy Ferris
Well done you. Who now's the problems anyone of us had or has. I notice the perfect people disregard there actions! in favour of passing comment - oops! that's what I've just done. How easy is that?.

Julie Crumpton
Agree, jo

TheKarmacanic
Well said Jo!

Victoria Hallett
On bbc news they've said baby was up to 6 months old so now i have no sympathy for her she's either done something to him or knows someone has. I have a son who's 5 months and i couldn't imagine just dumping him. R.I.P little one

Julie Crumpton
No, you probably couldnt.....nor me, but until the full facts are known.....dont judge!

Jenna Purcell
Poor baby boy. I know it sounds horrible but the only thing i hope for is that he was stillborn and didnt die in any pain and wasnt just left2 die after being born. Why not just leave him where he could have been found. Lets hope his mother is found.

Joan Burgess
Wonder why this poor woman kept the baby for 6 months? Perhaps the child died suddenly and she didn't know what to do. It is so easy to condemn people without knowing the full facts. R.I.P little one.

Julie Crumpton
Agree, joan

Juls Adams
the women didn't want any medical assistance when conceiving the child ( my thoughts go out to the baby ) NOT THE MOTHER !

Andrea Hill
Your heartless

Neil Robertson
the mother might be a child herself. She will have been scared to death to dispose of a child in that manner and only children would do such a thing. Spare athought for all children in pain.

Julie Crumpton
Juls....words fail me! I take it you know all the circumstances to leave that comment! What a compassionate person you are!...... Not!

If dna was taken from you and put on file then the police would have all the information at hand right now, if you have nothing to hide then why not.

well it will come eventually, we need a DNA taken at birth for every human born worldwide, it'sgoing to take a few hundred years yet, , but it is inevitable.

emma johnson
To add.. DNA is not unique. There are people in the world who have the same DNA. The chances are very slight but it is only your fingerprints that make you unique to anyone else.

Neil Robertson
Heart breaking to see any child die. I can not imagine the amount of pain the parents are feeling at this time. We all don't know how a dead child has ended up in the trash but lets not forget we stick our dead in the ground and the dead don't feel. I hope the child did not suffer in life when he met his end. The parents need help and can only find help if they comeforward.

Phylip de la Maziere
My heart goes out to the mother she must be in an awful state I hope it all works out for her she needs help, RIP little man!

roy theboy
Words fail me when people on this forum make sweeping cruel and nasty judgements about the Mother of the baby without knowing all the facts, as well as making some incredible possible outcomes of this case and circumstances surrounding it. I hope those that judge in black and white terms never have to deal with something tragic themselves only for someone like them to pass comment on their oh so perfect lives.

Kelly James
Well said Roy. Even if it turns out the mother did leave the body of her dead baby at this plant, who knows what mental state she must be in? The death of her child could have affected her badly. We shouldn't judge her, we don't know what she has been through.

Julie Crumpton
Well said! Unbelievably cruel people on here, acid tongues!

Matthew Stoner
Hmmm....yes Julie you're right.....but correct me if I'm wrong though, it wasn't so long ago that you and TheKarmachanic suggested that someone who posted on a story was needing "mental help" and was "mentally ill"......just saying that's all..........

Nathan Breeze
Any1 no matter how ill or what circumstances or there reasons for doing it should b shot stoned an tortured. There's no need for any1 to b disposed of like a emptey bottle of milk like that let alone a innocent lil kid.

Julie Crumpton
....and when you grow up to be a big boy, and know a little bit more about life, im sure you would be able to form an opinion properly......until then, keep your pointless, childish opinions to yourself!

Oh! And learn to spell!

I feel desperately sorry that this little boy/girl has not been given the chance to grow up and live. I can only imagine that the trauma for the mum at the moment is unbelievable. If the father of this child is aware im sure he too is very very upset, along with their parents. I cannot imagine carrying a child for 9 months and then discarding them (alive or dead) is an easy thing to do.I hope that the authorities treat this sensibly and that this mother and families get all the help they need.

Elvin Eastwood
we had a baby left atop a dust bin a few street away...sign of the times. no point in sick comments. food bank, jobless, homeless whats it going to take not more good gooders thats for sure its because of them where in this mess.
