Boy George bombarded with abuse from One Direction fans
Boy George has come under attack from fans of One Direction after he accused band member Liam Payne of snubbing a meeting with his niece at the BRIT Awards on Wednesday.
The Culture Club frontman took his young relative Molly Fitzpatrick to the London music prizegiving as a treat so she could spend the night in the company of her favourite stars, but, after snapping pictures with One Direction's Harry Styles and Niall Horan, she was left disappointed as Payne was rushed past the pair's table.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, George wrote, "Niall from One Direction come (sic) to table 146 and (met my) niece... Top marks to Harry Styles for stopping for a picture with my niece and bollox's (sic) to Liam and the disrespectful w**ker of a minder!"
Boy George's message angered Payne's devotees and he was promptly inundated with furious tweets from the band's young fans, prompting George to reply, "One direction fans stop bothering me!"
The insulting posts continued to roll in on Thursday and George had to appeal to his Twitter fans to ignore the feud, adding, "Please don't reply to any 1D fans on my behalf! I have spent all day blocking them! Yawn! This is proof that most fans of teeny bands are complete morons!"
Meanwhile, Payne has shared his side of the story, insisting George never actually asked him for a photo.
Addressing the veteran singer directly on Twitter, he writes: "@BoyGeorge now now boy lets (sic) not tell porkies (lies)... If you would have asked me for a picture i would have stopped bro (sic) i just did what you said and pointed niall out for you..."
Payne then went on to poke fun at George's colourful make-up and attire: "u (you) just keep wearing ur (your) strange hats and enjoy yourself my little Georgie pie... It's still not cool you just look weird."
