Brandy fought eating disorder during teen fame
Singer/actress Brandy battled a serious eating disorder as a teen star and would often diet and starve herself in a desperate attempt to stay slim.
The Boy Is Mine hitmaker landed a record deal at 13 and she was catapulted into the spotlight with the help of her own TV sitcom, Moesha, in 1996.
But amid all the fame and fortune, Brandy, now 33, was fighting a secret illness as she strived for perfection - and it turned her into "the unhappiest teenager" in the world.
In a VH1 Behind the Music special, which aired in the U.S. on Wednesday night, she revealed, "I wanted to be so thin. That was my main thing. So I started not taking care of myself - not eating properly, not eating at all, diet pills, regurgitating, and all of these things that girls do.
"People don't understand that being the hottest star or making the most money does not mean anything. I'm here to tell you I was making so much money - I was omnipresent - and I was the unhappiest teenager, probably, in the world."
