British Airman Shot Dead In Afghanistan

A Royal Air Force airman has been killed in Helmand Province in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has said.
He was on patrol when he came under small arms fire in an attack by insurgents.
His next of kin have been informed, the MoD said.
Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Mackenzie, a spokesman for British Forces in Helmand, said: "It is my sad duty to report that an airman from the Royal Air Force Regiment was fatally wounded during an insurgent attack in the Western Dashte area of Nad-e Ali, Helmand Province whilst on a patrol to interact with the local population.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
The family have asked for a period of grace before further details regarding the serviceman's identity are revealed.
The airman's death brings the total number of British forces personnel or MoD civilians to have died while serving in Afghanistan to 398.
what do you think?

If you insist on writing such rubbish learn how to spell.

I don't agree with the killing of innocent civillians

Keith Brunsdon
Where in this article does it say anything about killing innocent civilians. All it says is that our serviceman was killed by insurgents. Before you make stupid comments like yours then I suggest you grow up, serve your country and learn to respect people who are doing there job in the most difficult of circumstances. Thousands of forces personnel will be disgusted by your comments.

The decision to withdraw has already been made by the politicians, but they are quite happy for our servicemen to be used as target practise in a long drawn out retreat as long as it saves their miserable faces.

Well in the battle for hearts and minds I can see that the Talibs have certainly won yours! Your personal comfort zone is provided for you free of charge by our Armed Forces people who go voluntarily into danger on our behalf. Go and visit a returned IED victim or two. It might come to you one day.
