Bronx Dog Attack On Toddler Caught On Camera
A vicious dog attack on a four-year-old girl in the Bronx district of New York City has been captured on a surveillance camera.
The pit bull ran across the street and latched onto the terrified toddler who was out walking with her mother on Sunday afternoon.
The whole attack was captured by a security camera at a nearby store.
Several bystanders ran over and eventually managed to tear the animal off.
"The dog was biting her," witness Eduardo Candelier told WNBC. "The girl was crying, she was going crazy."
The child was treated for small puncture wounds to her right arm and right leg.
The owner of the pit bull, who turned up after the attack, was issued with a summons for letting the dog off its leash.
But there are no plans to have the animal put down.

These dogs just should not be on the streets as thay are killing machines.

Mark Hussey
Thay are mostley wepon of choice of drug dealers

Little Jacob
Does that include people then, after they injure or hurt someone???

Valerie Wood
I love dogs but am very uneasy when out walking and a dog runs up to me. I have no idea whether the dog is friendly or not so please dog owners keep your dogs on leads for their sakes as well as other people, and other animals.

Diane Rogers
I feel the same. But I am not a dog lover, I was chased when I was young and I fear dogs who run up the worse thing a owner can say is they won't hurt you.

Diana if my dog ran up to you and you looked frightened of it that would natrually be the first thing id say.

Maybe stay in more...just in case

It's been said a million times before that it's the owner not the dog and I'm not a dog owner so I have an open mind regarding that - but is it not a fact that these breeds are the weapon of choice for the usual suspects - all it takes is a walk down any high street and although in fairness not always , more often than not it's easy to guess what type of person will be at the other end of the lead from these breeds.

Little Jacob
I have a staffy and she's only little, never barks and is so friendly...it really upsets me when i read nasty comments about their breed. I do agree though on this occassion the owner needs to be held responsible for the dog...

Sam Cheney
I totally agree.Staffies are a nanny dog known for thier friendliness around children which is a FACT.It's thugs using them for fighting thats the problem. In this case though it's a Pit bull not a staff.

Richard Crowther
Don't blame the dog, blame the owner.
