Brooke Shields to play pilot on TV
Brooke Shields is returning to the small screen in a leading role for the first time in three years as a fighter jet pilot in hit US TV show Army Wives.
The Suddenly Susan star will play an Air Force colonel in the drama's seventh season, which will be broadcast in America later this year.
The job marks the actress' first foray into a full-time TV role since her comedy-drama series Lipstick Jungle was axed by bosses at the NBC network in 2009.
Shields joins fellow newcomer Jesse McCartney as part of the revamped cast.
Executive producer Jeff Melvoin says, "We're all very excited about season seven, in which a new tribe emerges from the shadow of tragedy."
