California Carjackings: Gunman Kills Four
A gunman has killed four people before taking his own life in a 25-minute shooting spree in California.
Police spokesman Dave Kanoti said officers were examining multiple crime scenes in and around the city of Tustin, around 40 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
According to local television reports, the shootings started with a fatal carjacking close to an intersection of 5 Freeway.
NBC Southern California said the carjacking was followed by two others less than three miles away, during which two people were killed.
A spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Office said a woman's body was also found at a house.
The Los Angeles Times said the wave of violence came to an end when the suspected gunman was stopped by police while driving a stolen car in Orange.
Mr Kanoti confirmed the man killed himself.
Police do not yet have a motive for the shootings and it is unclear whether the victims knew each other or their killer.
