Campaign Fail: Romney App Misspells America

US Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney failed to successfully spell out his vision for the country in his new mobile phone app as his campaign team set out his slogan as "A Better Amercia".

The app - called "With Mitt" - allows users to overlay the Romney slogan on their personal photos but the spelling error led members of the proofreading public to go viral on twitter as they tweeted mocking images of "Amercia".

One shows the slogan over a picture of The Simpsons' Ralph Wiggum, the dim-witted classmate of Lisa Simpson, another overlays it over a map of Canada.

The Republicans should have been celebrating after Mr Romney clinched the party's presidential nomination with victory in the Texas primary.

This afternoon the app promoted by the official campaign website had yet to be corrected and was continuing to be downloaded with the spelling error.

Andrea Saul, part of Mr Romney's campaign team said: "Mistakes happen. I don't think any voter cares about a typo at the end of the day."

She added that an update had been sent to Apple and was awaiting final approval - and presumably one last spellcheck.
