Carlos Tevez Returns To Manchester City

Footballer Carlos Tevez has returned to Manchester City breaking a four month stand-off after claiming he was treated "like a dog" by the club's manager.

The striker has flown back to Britain frome his home in Argentina for the first time since manager Roberto Mancini accused him of refusing to warm up during the side's defeat to Bayern Munich in September.

Speaking to Fox Sports in Argentina, Tevez said: "I do not think I was wrong, but if they (the club) think so I apologise.

"I am ready to return, to win and do the best for the club's shirt."

But the 28-year-old has continued to defend himself over the spat that prompted the longstanding rift - and indicated he would not be issuing the apology that Mancini has insisted is a prerequisite to ending it.

He claimed his manager began abusing him after a separate row with forward Edin Dzeko.

"He is in the middle of an argument," he said. "Then he sees me and tells me to keep on warming up and treats me like a dog.

"I was willing to play but the coach was in such a foul mood because he had that row with Dzeko.

"He started on me as well, started swearing at me. That was him because I was very calm."

His unauthorised absence from Manchester City's training ground has reportedly cost him around £10m in fines and unpaid wages.

He added: "It is a decision I have taken to win back the supporters who have turned against me.

"I gave everything to that club and what I love above all is to play football.

"I know I have what it takes to change the situation. I know it will be hard, but it is a nice challenge."

The player has admitted the angry reaction of City fans was understandable - but said they do not have the full facts.

"I believe they were misinformed, they were not told the facts," he said. "When they were told I did not want to play they naturally turned against me.

"I could not understand what was going on. I swore like any player would. I gave everything to that club and when I saw them burning my shirt with my name on it or hurling insults at me it really hurt."
