Caroline Flack hospitalised

Filming on The Xtra Factor was thrown into jeopardy after Caroline Flack was hospitalised just hours before the first round of the 2012 auditions.

The presenter became violently ill and feverish in her Liverpool hotel room on Tuesday night, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

According to The Sun, doctors told her she was suffering a suspected allergic reaction before discharging her.

However, the TV star fell ill once again, prompting ITV2 bosses to phone for a doctor to tend to her.

An insider says, "Caroline was delirious. She had no idea what was wrong with her. She feared she would have to miss the first show."

Flack had recovered by Wednesday morning and miraculously made it to the start of the try-outs at Liverpool's Echo Arena, where ex Spice Girl Geri Halliwell showed up to join the judging panel.

Taking to her Twitter.com page, she told fans, "After a VERY long night we are up and ready to roll! First auditions in Liverpool... and a new judge."

Because her sidekick Olly Murs is touring the U.S. with One Direction, Flack will have to host the sister show by herself until the live rounds.

The X Factor and The Xtra Factor will be back on screens this summer.
