Casey Kasem's Kids Sue For Control Of His Care
The three adult children of legendary radio host Casey Kasem have launched legal action to try to gain control over his health care.
They say the 81-year-old is suffering from advanced Parkinson's disease and is being isolated from his family members by his wife, Jean.
The petition for conservatorship brought a long-running family feud into the courts.
Julie, Kerri and Mike Kasem, contend that Jean Kasem refuses to tell them the name of their father's primary care doctor and they are unable to check on his condition.
Julie, who has a master's degree in medicine, and her husband, Dr Jamil Aboulhosn, presented papers signed by her father in 2007 giving them power of attorney over the radio star's health care.
The children are from Kasem's first marriage to Linda Myers, which ended in 1979.
He married Jean in 1980, and the couple have one child together.
Kasem rocketed to radio fame as the host of the nationally syndicated American Top 40, where he engaged listeners with his signature music trivia.
He also provided the voice for several animated characters, including Shaggy on the popular cartoon Scooby-Doo.
